International Languages After School Program

Learn A New Language for Free

Simcoe County District School Board proudly offers children in grades 1 through 8 an opportunity to learn and/or maintain a language other than French or English. Whether you enrol your children in this program to learn a new language, understand a new culture or to extend their knowledge of their first language, every student can benefit from this program.

Eligibility:

Students enrolled in grades 1 through 8 are eligible to enrol in this program

Languages:

Barrie: Spanish, German, Greek, Japanese, Russian*, Mandarin, Korean, Farsi*, Arabic

Bradford:  Tamil*, Urdu*, Punjabi*, Spanish, Tagalog, Vietnamese

Orillia: German, Spanish

If you have selected a language with the * sign and it is not a native language for your child, please contact our office. If the language of your interest is not listed please contact us at (705) 725-8360 ext. 45160

Class Schedule:

Barrie - Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 11:30am - the program will start again on September 13, 2014

Bradford - Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 11:30am starting September 20, 2014.

Orillia: - Saturday mornings from 9:00 am to 11:30 am starting September 20, 2014

2014/2015 Class Dates:

Semester 1 - September 13, 20, 27; Oct 4, 18, 25; Nov 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; Dec 6, 13. 

Semester 2 - Jan 10, 17, 24, 31; Feb 7, 21, 28; March 7, 28; April 11, 18, 25; May 2, 9

Location:

Barrie - Learning Centre, Barrie, 320 Bayfield Street, Bayfield Mall (Highway 400 and Bayfield Street).

Bradford - Learning Centre, Bradford, 157 Holland Street East, Suit 200, 2nd floor.

Orillia - Learning Centre, Orillia, 575 west Street South, Unit 15.

Cost:

There is no charge for this program, however, we must attain a minimum number of students per language in order to offer the class.  Most classes fill quickly and are established on a first come first served basis.

Volunteer

If you are a High School student and interested in volunteering with the International Language Program a resume and cover letter must be submitted to Tatiana Khrystynko at tkhrystynko@scdsb.on.ca. Please specify the proficiency in the language that you are interested in helping with. A reference from your school will be required. We thank all applicants, however only successful ones will be contacted for an interview.

To register your child for the International Language program please click here. Upon successful registration you will receive an email confirming your child's enrollment.
