International Languages After School Program

Learn A New Language for Free

Simcoe County District School Board proudly offers children in grades 1 through 8 an opportunity to learn and/or maintain a language other than French or English. Whether you enrol your children in this program to learn a new language, understand a new culture or to extend their knowledge of their first language, every student can benefit from this program.

Eligibility:

Students enrolled in grades 1 through 8 are eligible to enrol in this program

Languages:

Barrie: Arabic, Russian, Mandarin, Korean, German, Spanish, Tagalog

Bradford:  Arabic, Tamil, Urdu, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin,

Class Schedule:

Saturday mornings from 9:00am to 11:30am starting September 17, 2016 

2016/2017 Class Dates:

Semester 1 - September 17, 24 Oct. 1, 15, 22, 29  Nov. 5, 12, 19, 26 Dec. 3, 10, 17

Semester 2 - Jan 14, 21, 28 Feb 4, 11, 25 Mar 4, 25, 31 Apr 8, 22, 29  May 6, 13

Location:

Barrie - Learning Centre, Barrie, 320 Bayfield Street, Bayfield Mall (Highway 400 and Bayfield Street).

Bradford - Learning Centre, Bradford, 157 Holland Street East, Suit 200, 2nd floor.

 

Cost:

There is no charge for this program; however, we must attain a minimum number of students per language in order to offer the class.  Most classes fill quickly and are established on a first come first served basis.

Volunteer

If you are a High School student and interested in volunteering with the International Language Program a resume and cover letter must be submitted to Tatiana Khrystynko at tkhrystynko@scdsb.on.ca Please specify the proficiency in the language that you are interested in helping with. A reference from your school will be required. We thank all applicants; however, only successful candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Registration for 2016-2017 International Languages Program

The registration for 2016-17 school year will open in mid-May.
