Learn a new language for free online!
The Simcoe County District School Board offers children in grades 1 to 8 an opportunity to learn and/or maintain a language other than French or English. Whether you enroll your children in this program to learn a new language, understand a new culture or to extend their knowledge of their first language, every student can benefit from this program.
Registration:
Registration instructions will be posted when the start date is confirmed.
Eligibility:
Students enrolled in grades 1 to 8 are eligible to enroll in this program.
Languages:
Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Korean, Mandarin, Ojibwe, Russian, Spanish, Tamil, Ukrainian, Urdu

Class Schedule:
Saturday Program:
Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. start date to be confirmed
Wednesday Program (Spanish and Mandarin Only):
Wednesday Evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. start date to be confirmed
Inclement Weather:
In the event of class cancellation due to inclement weather we will post this information on our website as well as Twitter.
Cost:
There is no cost for this program; however, we must have a minimum number of students per language in order to offer the class. Most classes fill quickly and are established on a first come, first served basis.
Volunteer:
If you are a high school student interested in volunteering with the International and Indigenous Languages Program, please submit a resume and cover letter to elementaryil@scdsb.on.ca. Please specify your proficiency in the language that you are interested in helping with. A reference from your school will be required.
