Each
year, the Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) offers a variety of
summer programs to over 2,000 students. Registration is now open for the
SCDSB’s 2020 summer school courses.
Summer school credit courses are available this July through eLearning and in
face-to-face classes. Face-to-face courses are focused on mathematics and
English as a Second Language (ESL), while eLearning offerings include Grade 10
Civics and Careers, as well as Grade 11 and 12 college and university
preparation courses. Face-to-face courses are held at the Barrie Learning
Centre, July 6-30 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Limited school bus transportation is
provided from all areas of Simcoe County. eLearning courses will run from June
30 to July 30. Students can also attain credits through the EduTravel and
summer co-op programs.
Summer school program details can be found on the Learning Centres website: www.thelearningcentres.com.
Students can also get information from their school or from any of the SCDSB’s
Learning Centres. Current SCDSB secondary students can register through their
guidance counsellor. All other students, including adults, Grade 8 students and
non-SCDSB students can register with a paper form, available on the Learning
Centres website.
This initiative links directly
to the SCDSB’s Strategic Priorities
in the area of excellence in teaching and learning.
